Node castings used on offshore wind turbine

A European company approached Y&J for node castings used on their innovative offshore wind turbine. The node castings, working in a harsh environment and extreme weather conditions, required high strength and toughness. Its irregular shape and the thin wall could induce cracks and deformation during production. As it also involved welding and other procedures after arriving at the customer’s plant, the lead time given was very tight. 

Y&J embraced the challenge, forming a team for this project, working with the customer closely to fully understand their requirement and working conditions of the parts. From the perspective of the foundry and heat treatment process, Y&J optimized the material and profile of the parts to achieve sound castings, worked out a proper heat treatment process to ensure the castings free of deformation. 

Although it involved many manufacturing procedures, Y&J finished production in a timely manner. After inspection, rust prevention and packaging parts were delivered to the customer before deadline. This project demonstrated not only Y&J’s expertise and experience in manufacturing but also the ability of projects management.
